Inwangsan Mountain is a rocky mountain with a height of 338 meters, situated in central Seoul. Inwangsan means “mountain of a benevolent king” in Korean; this rocky mountain has many striking natural features with countless uniquely shaped rocks and huge granite peaks, and is also the home to Korea’s most important shamanistic shrine. Every rock spread across the mountain has its own name to reflect its unique characteristics, such as Beom Bawi ("crouching tiger rock"; Bawi is a rock in Korean), Moja Bawi ("hat rock"), Chima Bawi ("skirt rock"), and Mae Bawi ("eagle rock"). Apart from its magnificent views, taking just two hours to hike along the ridges of the mountain, Inwangsan is a perfect place for family hiking.
